Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, this beautifully preserved mansion dates back to 1864 and overlooks the iconic Irwin Gardens, a breathtaking Italianate garden first designed in the early 1900s. Today, the estate combines the elegance of a historic boutique inn with one of the state’s most picturesque garden venues, creating a wedding experience that feels timeless, intimate, and unforgettable.

The property’s greatest treasure is its extraordinary garden. Featuring terraced landscaping, ornamental fountains, winding pathways, classical sculptures, and vibrant seasonal flowers, the gardens transport guests to what feels like a European estate. Every season offers its own beauty, from colorful spring blooms and lush summer greenery to the warm tones of autumn. The historic Edwardian mansion overlooking the gardens adds even more character, with original woodwork, marble fireplaces, elegant furnishings, and architectural details that have been carefully preserved for generations.

As a wedding photographer, The Inn at Irwin Gardens is one of my favorite venues because every part of the property feels like a carefully designed portrait location. The terraced gardens provide endless opportunities for romantic images, while the historic mansion offers timeless interiors filled with beautiful natural light. Every pathway, fountain, garden gate, and flowering hedge creates another stunning backdrop, allowing couples to enjoy an incredibly diverse wedding gallery without ever leaving the property.

Some of my favorite portrait locations include the grand garden terraces, the historic fountain, the ivy-covered walls, the elegant entrance to the mansion, and the winding pathways that connect each garden room. During golden hour, warm sunlight filters through the mature trees and illuminates the gardens with an incredible glow, creating romantic portraits that feel straight out of an English countryside estate. Inside the mansion, the preserved architectural details add warmth, elegance, and history to every photograph.
