Floating above one of downtown Indianapolis’ busiest intersections, the Indianapolis Artsgarden is unlike any other wedding venue in Indiana. Suspended seven stories above Washington and Illinois Streets, this remarkable glass-and-steel landmark offers sweeping views of the city skyline while surrounding couples and their guests with natural light. Since opening in 1995, the Arts Garden has become an architectural icon and a favorite destination for couples looking for a wedding venue that feels modern, elegant, and unmistakably Indianapolis.

As a wedding photographer, the Indianapolis Arts Garden is one of my favorite downtown venues because the natural light is simply incredible. The glass walls and ceiling create bright, even light throughout much of the day, producing timeless, true-to-life photographs in every season. As the sun begins to set, the venue takes on an entirely different personality, with the lights of downtown Indianapolis creating a dramatic backdrop for evening portraits and reception images.

Some of my favorite portrait locations include the interior of the glass dome, Monument Circle just a short walk away, the nearby Conrad Indianapolis, the surrounding downtown streets, and the city skyline visible through the Artsgarden’s expansive windows. The combination of contemporary architecture and classic downtown landmarks gives couples an incredible variety of portraits without ever venturing far from their celebration.
