Tucked away within Heritage Park in Fishers, Indiana, Ambassador House & Heritage Gardens is one of Central Indiana’s most romantic garden wedding venues. Surrounded by towering trees, beautifully landscaped gardens, and peaceful walking paths, the historic estate offers a timeless setting where history and natural beauty come together. Originally built in the 1820s as a log home, the residence was later expanded into the elegant Greek Revival-style home seen today. In 1996, the historic house was carefully relocated to Heritage Park to preserve its legacy, where it continues to host weddings, community events, and celebrations.

One of the reasons couples fall in love with Ambassador House is its storybook atmosphere. The stately white columns, wraparound porch, manicured gardens, and charming pathways create an elegant backdrop that feels peaceful and secluded despite being just minutes from Indianapolis. Every corner of the property offers beautiful scenery, making it easy to envision an outdoor ceremony surrounded by flowers, followed by an evening of dining and dancing beneath the stars. The venue has a timeless quality that complements everything from classic black-tie weddings to relaxed garden celebrations.

The property offers several beautiful spaces that allow couples to host their entire wedding day in one location. Many ceremonies take place beneath the picturesque Heritage Gardens pergola, surrounded by lush landscaping and seasonal blooms. Following the ceremony, guests often gather on the European-style cocktail terrace before moving into the elegant seasonal reception tent. The white tent features high ceilings and removable sides that create an airy, open feel while providing protection from the weather. During the colder months, the historic home itself can accommodate smaller, intimate celebrations indoors.

Ambassador House is well suited for a wide range of wedding sizes. From April through October, the gardens and reception tent can accommodate up to approximately 225 guests, while indoor events during the off-season are ideal for more intimate gatherings of around 60 guests. Couples also enjoy exclusive access to the historic home, bridal suite, groom’s room, gardens, and grounds, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the day without sharing the property with other events.  

As a wedding photographer, Ambassador House is one of my favorite venues because it offers incredible variety without ever leaving the property. The historic front porch creates timeless bridal portraits, while the white columns and Greek Revival architecture provide a classic backdrop that never goes out of style. Throughout the gardens, flowering plants, mature trees, and winding stone pathways create beautiful opportunities for romantic portraits in every season. The charming stone cottage, European-style terrace, and open lawns each offer a completely different look, giving couples a gallery filled with variety while maintaining a cohesive, elegant feel.

Some of my favorite portrait locations include the front porch with its stately columns, the Heritage Gardens pergola, the stone pathways winding through the gardens, the charming cottage tucked among the landscaping, and the open lawns during golden hour. As the evening light filters through the trees, the property takes on a warm, romantic glow that creates some of the most beautiful sunset portraits in Central Indiana. Even if the weather changes, the historic home and covered reception tent provide elegant alternatives that photograph beautifully.​

What makes Ambassador House truly special is the feeling it creates throughout the day. The venue feels intimate, welcoming, and effortlessly romantic, allowing couples to celebrate surrounded by nature while enjoying the charm of one of Fishers’ most treasured historic landmarks. It offers the perfect balance of elegance and comfort, giving guests an experience that feels both refined and relaxed.
